Family-run since 1954
A general store that never stopped being one.
McBrayne's Feeds and Needs has stood on North Street in Dresden for over seventy years. It was a feed store first, and it still is — but somewhere along the way it also became the place you go for a bag of dog food, a box of bolts, a propane fill, a pool test and the trailer to haul it all home.
We're not a chain. Nothing here is decided in a head office. The people who own the store are the people who load your truck.

Seventy years, three counters, one family
1954
Gordon opens the doors
Gordon McBrayne starts a feed and general store for Dresden's farms — the kind of place where the answer to 'do you carry…' is usually yes.
1970s–90s
The store grows with the township
Hardware, work wear, pet food and lawn and garden get added alongside the feed floor, and a fertilizer plant lets the store mix its own lawn blend.
Today
Al and Bill at the counter
Brothers Allen and Bill McBrayne run the business the same way it started: know the customer, know the product, and keep the order sheet handy for whatever isn't in stock.

Profit from our experience
The advice is free. It's the reason people drive past the box store.
Which ration for a mixed flock. What that lawn actually needs in July. Which fastener won't back out. After seventy years of the same questions in the same township, we've got answers you can use — and we'd rather sell you the right thing once.
